The Hall of the Pillar - known locally as “Qaat el Amud”. This large hall which you enter via a small courtyard, was repaired at the time of the last restoration works. Its arches rest on powerful columns, and in the center on one massive column from where the hall takes its name. This
hall was part of a two-storey palace belonging to the Emir Melhem Chehab and
later became the residence of the Emir Bechir II Chehab until 1810 when he moved
to Beiteddine. It is in this beautiful multi-arched hall that Gergis Baz was judged and executed.
